IndiaMART jewelry photo requirements
Size rules for IndiaMART product images: at least 1000 x 1000 px. Every rule below links to IndiaMART’s own page, checked October 20, 2026.
The rules
| Topic | Rule | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum resolution | Listed under "4.1 Mandatory Photo Rules" in the 2026 product approval guidelines: "Upload clear, high-resolution photos (minimum 1000 × 1000 pixels)". The product approval FAQ adds: "Low resolution (under 1000×1000 pixels), screenshots of apps/desktops, or plain colored canvases are not allowed." source | Required |
| Maximum file size | "The maximum allowable file size of the product image is 4MB" source | Required |
| Square format (older guidance) | The 2025 image guidelines say: "Medium size images must be used in the aspect ratio in the range of (500×500 pixels)." The how-to page puts it as: "Use medium-sized images, in a square format with an aspect ratio of 500×500 pixels." The 2026 guidelines raise the minimum to 1000 × 1000 pixels and give no aspect ratio. source | Required |
| Background | Listed under "Mandatory Photo Rules": "Use a white or clean background". The 2025 guidelines say "(use white background)". source | Required |
| How much of the frame the product fills | Listed under "Mandatory Photo Rules": "Ensure 70% or more of the image shows the actual product". The older 2025 page says: "The product must cover at least 60-70% of the entire image area". source | Required |
| No text, watermarks, logos or prices | "Images must be free of any text i.e. watermark, logo, prices, product offers, timestamps, etc." source | Required |
| No contact details in photos | "PII: Photos containing phone numbers, emails, or website links are rejected." source | Required |
| Real photos only, no drawings | "No Drawings or Illustrations: You must ensure that the images are real photos of the products, not drawings or illustrations." The 2026 guidelines add under Best Practices: "Always use real, high-quality product photos with clean backgrounds." source | Required |
| One product per photo, full product first | The 2026 "Do Not" list includes "Partial Image as 1st Photo", "Multiple Products within a Photo", "Screenshot of Mobile, App, Desktop" and "Plain Canvas – White, Black or any other color" (shown as a placeholder image with no product). source | Required |
| No duplicate images | "Duplicates: Using the same image for the 1st and 2nd photo is a violation." The 2025 page also says: "Each image in the catalog should be unique." source | Required |
| Photo must match the title and specifications | "A photo is rejected if the prominent object detected by the AI contradicts the title or specifications." Example from the same page: "If the title says 4.5 mg but the photo shows 1.5 mg, it will be rejected for a mismatch." source | Required |
| Jewelry: list the finished piece in its own category | The FAQ uses a jewelry example: "“CVD Diamond Ring” mapped to “CVD Diamond” — while both are related, the actual product is a finished jewelry item (ring), not a raw or loose diamond. Since categories are defined based on the main sellable product, this mismatch leads to category rejection." source | Required |
| AI-generated content (SGI) | The Terms of Use say users "shall refrain from hosting, displaying, uploading, generating, modifying, altering, publishing, transmitting, storing, updating, sharing or submitting any content, material or information that is SGI" and "more particularly, prohibited SGI under IT Act and rules thereunder." SGI is defined in the same terms as "Synthetically Generated Information". source | Required |
| What happens to a rejected image | "No, if one or more of your product image(s) is rejected, only these images will be deleted. If the remaining details of your product listing are correct and complete, the product listing will be approved." source | Required |
AI jewelry photos on IndiaMART: what’s allowed
IndiaMART publishes no rule written specifically for AI-edited product photos. Its Terms of Use (last updated 20 February 2026) ask users not to upload "Synthetically Generated Information" (SGI), "more particularly, prohibited SGI" under India's IT Act and its rules, and say that if non-prohibited SGI is used, the user must meet the compliance those rules require. Its 2026 product guidelines also ask for real, high-quality product photos with no drawings or illustrations, and an automatic check rejects a photo whose main object does not match the title or specifications. For a jewelry seller, the safe course is a real photo of the actual piece: if AI cleans up the background or lighting, the piece itself must stay exactly as it is.
The jewelry photos that do well on IndiaMART start as a real photo of the piece you are selling. From there, AI photo editing does the slow work: it swaps a cluttered table for a clean white or styled background, evens out the lighting, brings back the sparkle in the stones and can show the piece worn on a model. What stays the same is the piece itself, so check that the metal color, stone count and size in the finished image match what the buyer will open.
That is how Hues works. You upload your own product photo, and every image it makes is built from that photo, ready for your IndiaMART listing.
