Virtual Try-On

Virtual try-on is a digital imaging technology that lets a shopper see how a piece of jewelry, apparel, or an accessory looks on a real person or model before it is physically produced or purchased.

Virtual try-on (VTO) uses computer vision and, increasingly, generative AI to place a product onto a photo, live camera feed, or model image so it appears to be genuinely worn. It answers the single hardest question in online jewelry shopping: how will this look on me?

How it works

A try-on system detects the relevant anatomy — a hand for rings, a neck for necklaces, an ear or wrist for other pieces — then aligns the product to scale, perspective, and lighting so it sits naturally on the body.

  • Detection: the system locates landmarks such as fingers, earlobes, or the collarbone.
  • Alignment: the product is scaled and rotated to match the pose and camera angle.
  • Blending: shadows, reflections, and skin contact are rendered so the piece looks physically present.

Why it matters

Jewelry is intimate and expensive, and a flat product shot rarely conveys scale or drape. Virtual try-on reduces return rates, shortens the buying decision, and lets brands show an entire collection on-model without booking a shoot for every SKU.
