Product Retouching

Product retouching is the post-production editing of a product photograph to remove imperfections, correct color and exposure, and present the item cleanly and accurately for sale.

Even a well-lit shot rarely leaves the studio ready to publish. Product retouching is the refinement stage where dust, fingerprints, stray reflections, and color casts are corrected so the final image represents the product at its accurate, consistent best.

Common retouching tasks

  • Removing dust, scratches, fingerprints, and stray fibers.
  • Evening out reflections and unwanted hotspots on metal and glass.
  • Correcting color so the product matches its true appearance.
  • Cleaning or replacing the background for a consistent look.
  • Sharpening detail and balancing exposure across a set.

Why it matters

Consistency builds trust. When every image in a catalog shares the same clean background, color balance, and level of polish, a storefront looks professional and a shopper can compare products fairly. Retouching is also where accuracy is protected, so the delivered item matches the photo.

How Hues AI applies this
